10K Foundation — 10 Week Training Program
Build Your Endurance. Improve Your Speed. Run Your Best 10K.
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
The AthletixGo 10K Foundation Program is a structured 10-week training plan designed for runners who want to improve their 10K performance through progressive and balanced training.
The program combines easy running, long runs, controlled speed development, threshold work, running drills, and strength training to build the physical qualities required for a stronger and more efficient 10K performance.
Training load progresses gradually throughout the program, allowing the athlete to develop endurance and speed while managing fatigue and recovery.
The final weeks reduce unnecessary training volume while maintaining quality, helping the athlete arrive at the target 10K feeling prepared, confident, and ready to perform.

PHILOSOPHY

Consistency creates endurance. Progressive overload develops performance.

This program does not rely on making every session difficult. Easy sessions remain easy, quality sessions are purposeful, and recovery is treated as an essential part of progress.

Training develops gradually across the program to allow the athlete to adapt physically and mentally while building toward stronger 10K-specific performance.

RECOVERY
STRATEGY

Recovery is integrated throughout the program through planned easy days, rest days, controlled training progression, and appropriate reductions in training load.

Athletes should prioritize sleep, hydration, adequate nutrition, and mobility when needed.

GUIDELINES

Prioritize consistent and sufficient sleep.

Keep easy running days genuinely easy.

Do not attempt to compensate for missed sessions by combining multiple hard workouts.

Allow adequate recovery between demanding training sessions.

Use light mobility or walking when it supports recovery.

Reduce training intensity if unusual fatigue or persistent discomfort develops.

NUTRITION

Maintain a balanced daily nutrition strategy that supports regular training and recovery.

Consume adequate carbohydrates to support running sessions and endurance training.

Include sufficient protein throughout the day to support recovery.

Stay well hydrated, especially before and after longer or more demanding sessions.

Practice any race-day nutrition strategy during training rather than introducing unfamiliar foods on an important day.
